the ground rules

Terms and Conditions

These apply when you buy something from the shop or come to one of our events. We have tried to write them the way we would say them out loud. Using this site means you are alright with what follows.

Who you are dealing with

The shop and this site are run by Ukiyo Collective, from Delhi, India. Where these terms say "we" or "us", that is who they mean.

Buying something

An order is confirmed once your payment goes through and you see the thank you screen. Payments are handled by Razorpay, and we never see or hold your card details.

Prices are in Indian rupees and include shipping within India. If a price is listed wrongly through a genuine mistake on our part, we will cancel the order and refund you in full rather than hold you to it or quietly charge you more.

We may decline or cancel an order if an item turns out to be unavailable or if something about the order looks fraudulent. If we do, you get the whole amount back.

Pre-orders

Some items are sold before they are made. Those are marked as pre-orders and take up to 4 weeks to reach you. You are paying upfront and waiting on our word, so you can cancel for a full refund any time before it ships.

Handmade things vary

Everything is made and printed in small runs, so colour, grain and finish shift a little between pieces. Photographs are honest but no screen shows a colour exactly. Small variation is not a defect, and it is not grounds for a refund. Anything actually damaged or wrong is, and that is covered on the Refunds page.

Coming to an event

Our events are shared spaces built around people feeling safe enough to speak. Come as you are, listen properly, and keep what other people say in the room. We can ask anyone to leave who makes the space unsafe for others, and we will, without a refund.

Ukiyo is a community, not a clinical service. Nothing said at an event or written on this site is medical advice or therapy, and it is not a substitute for either. If you are struggling, please talk to a doctor or a qualified mental health professional.

What is ours

The writing, illustrations, photographs and designs on this site belong to us. You are welcome to share and link to them. Selling them, or passing them off as your own, is not alright.

Where we stand on liability

We will always put right anything we get wrong with an order. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or knock-on losses arising from using this site or attending an event.

Nothing here takes away rights you have under Indian consumer law.

Changes and disputes

We may update these terms as the shop grows. The version on this page at the time you order is the one that applies to that order.

These terms are governed by Indian law, and any dispute falls to the courts of Delhi.
